$150.00

This is a 3-week workshop! 6/10, 6/17 & 6/24 from 6:00-8:00

The word Mandala, pronounced mon-dah-lah, means circle or discoid object in Sanskrit. This symbol, sacred to many belief systems across the globe, is designed like a geometric shape and represents the universe. Mandalas have multiple layers of meanings and significations. On a basic level, they signify cosmic unity, harmony, and balance. On a more profound level, they display the connection between human souls and the universe.

In this workshop, I will teach you how to make mosaic mandals to put in your unique dish or birdbath. We will have a collection of sizes for you to choose from. We will also make sure to seal them before you arrive, so they will be ready to use.

WEEK 1-Learn how to make mandala patterns and pick out colors for your project. We will also learn how to seal our substrate for outdoor use and teach you the correct adhesive to use for a dish that could hold water. We will also start gluing our tiles.

WEEK 2-We will aim to finish tiling your project tonight. If you don’t finish, we will invite you to visit us during open studio hours at no added cost.

WEEK 3-GROUT PARTY! We’ll learn how to mix the grout to the correct consistency and learn the techniques necessary to create a long-lasting mosaic birdbath

The final step to your outdoor mosaic is to seal it and learn how to care for it. We will send you home with a bottle of grout sealant to apply 3 days after grouting. Or leave it here and come back to seal the following week.

If you can’t come to every class but don’t want to miss out on the fun, you can always join an open studio time to make up for the lost time.
